Exciting change is in the works for Oakwood United Soccer Club, Oakwood’s long-standing select soccer organization.  Beginning this spring, leadership of the club will transition from founding director and Oakwood resident Dave Klum to an interim Board of Directors and Advisors. 

This new organization will operate as a non-profit soccer club while continuing to provide quality playing and training opportunities to both Oakwood and greater Dayton area youth, age kindergarten through junior high.  The club fields select teams for ages U8 through U14.

We are at a time across the Miami Valley and the nation when many year-round sports clubs incentivize young players to specialize in just one or two sports as early as 9 years of age.  Oakwood United aims to strike a balance between soccer development, team relationships, and flexibility, enabling area youth to pursue other sports and activities throughout the year without sacrificing top-quality soccer coaching, training and competitive teams at affordable rates. 

Founded 20 years ago, Oakwood United has long been a launch pad of successful players and well-rounded adults, on and off the field.  Many continue to play soccer beyond high school, both at collegiate levels and as an adopted lifelong sport.  More recently, the Youth Academy and First Touch programs were added to the club’s offerings.  These highly successful programs provide quality, age-appropriate soccer training in a fun atmosphere for children ages 5 – 8. 

The club will hold try-outs for the 2014-2015 season on Tuesday, May 27 and Wednesday, May 28 at the Old River sports complex, 226 Old River Trail, 45409.   Boys and girls who will turn ages 8 – 14 AFTER July 31, 2014 are invited to attend the appropriate timeslot.  To register for try-outs click on the registration button  For more information, please email us at [email protected] or call 937-404-1041.
